The decision to bring a pet into your home for you and your family should not be taken lightly. A pet will become a member of your family and not just a fixture in your home.

Unfortunately for some, pets are disposable items to be moved if they are an inconvenience. This should be avoided since unstable homes can make unstable pets.

A checklist for pet care can be an essential tool for the first time you bring home your new pet. Many people think that a new pet is their first experience at being a full-time pet parent, and for those this list will be most useful.

1. The first thing you want to be sure about pet care that your pet has all of their vaccinations up to date. It is important that your new pet is protected from such outside irritants as fleas, tics, ringworm, or many other ailments such as distemper or rabies.

2. Regular physical routine is essential for pet care. This is their exercise routine, since they aren’t like us and do activity regularly without our help. Larger pets such as dogs have to walked every day, smaller animals such as cats, ferrets, guinea pigs, and birds can be trained to play with someone in the family.

3. Get your home ready for your new pet can be a big task, but it is essential for the big day that your new friend comes home. If it’s a small caged pet, a small space that is quiet is fine for them to be used to their surroundings

Pet Care - Should You Training Your Dog?

When you thought about pet care, have you thought about training your dog … instead of punishing it for your restricted capabilities to “own” a dog?

Training your dog is a simple pet care (as dogs are trainable). Training your dog isn’t expensive. You should consider training your dog, instead of caging him up.

You should train him not to flee. Train her not to bark. Lastly train her as you would be trained. Just think of your dog (ala George Orwell’s animals in Animal Farm) being the owner of your home and you are the pet. (Are you thinking about training your dog, yet?)
